Energetic self-care for frustration using Jin Shin Jyutsu
[This blog post comes to us from our massage therapist, Mary Brower. Aside from working at Soul Sprout, Mary is part of the Integrative Medical Team at Morristown and Overlook Hospitals. She offers Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions and teaches self help techniques to patients and staff in the cardiac, oncology, and maternity departments.]
Have you been experiencing technical difficulties?
Recently I had an experience that we are all familiar with - placed on hold and transferred from one customer service agent to another. I began to feel my frustration build, but fortunately I remembered some of my energetic self-care tools from Jin Shin Jyutsu. After practicing for just a few minutes I felt my annoyance begin to subside, my shoulders dropping as my breathing relaxed.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an energetic modality in which the practitioner utilizes light touch over certain areas of the client’s body to harmonize body, mind, and spirit. It is sometimes referred to as “acupuncture without needles”, although the client remains fully clothed.
One aspect that I love about this modality is teaching my clients some simple tools for self help as part of their session. My clients feel empowered by taking home some methods to help balance their energy that are simple to do and easy to remember.
By receiving sessions of Jin Shin Jyutsu and practicing a few minutes of self help when possible, over time one notices positive changes in the physical, but also mental and emotional areas of life. Those frustrating few minutes of waiting on hold, or restarting your laptop will be a whole new experience.
The best way to experience this is to just give it a try! Jin Shin Jyutsu energy work can be added as part of a regular massage or reflexology session, or can be a full session on its own.
